Durable and versatile weather protection.

A lighter take on our iconic Cruiser, built from midweight Seattle Wool for dependable protection through shifting seasons. It carries forward the utility and pocketing that made the original a staple in the woods for more than a century.

Patented in 1914 as the Wool Cruising Shirt, the first Cruisers were designed for foresters working in the wet, wind-beaten forests of the Northwest. They were made as both pullovers and button-front jackets, and the pattern quickly became one of the most copied designs in the field. Hunters adopted the style early on, leading to the red-and-black plaid version that offered improved visibility while breaking up a solid silhouette in the trees. By the 1920s, Filson Cruisers were in use with the U.S. Forest Service, and by the 1940s we were producing dedicated variations as part of their official uniforms.

This limited-edition Seattle Wool Cruiser pairs the proven multi-pocket layout with the 18-oz. wool we've used in our Jac-Shirts for decades. The tightly woven wool turns wind, insulates whether dry or wet, and delivers three-season comfort without unnecessary bulk.
