The Lined Wool Packer Coat revives a proven Filson design that first protected horsemen and ranchers from snow and biting wind. It's built with two layers of heavyweight Mackinaw Wool, prized for its warmth, durability, and weather resistance, and lined with Alaskan Guide flannel for added insulation and comfort.
Its design draws from our 1914-patented Mackinaw Wool Cruiser, sharing its full complement of utility pockets. A double-layer cape over the shoulders and sleeves adds even greater warmth and weather protection. The fingertip-length cut keeps coverage deep, while a rear vent allows easy movement when seated or on horseback.
Mackinaw Wool has protected outdoorsmen for more than a century. Its tight weave resists wind, sheds light rain and snow, and stays warm even when wet. The natural shearling collar turns up and latches across the throat to block freezing wind, creating a soft barrier that reaches to the ears.
Every detail is true to its original purpose. Built for warmth, durability, and function proven through decades of hard use in unforgiving weather.
