The CCC Wool Bomber is a replica of the wool jackets issued by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The original CCC jackets were based off of Army Air Corps flight jackets, but made with wool rather than leather for use in rainy and snowy woodlands. These “CCC Lumber Jackets” were warm, durable bomber-style jackets with button-close fronts. Our special-edition jacket features a unique wool blend for the rib-knit collar, hem, and cuffs.
The Civilian Conservation Corps was a 1930s New Deal initiative implemented by Franklin D. Roosevelt that combined his passion for our wildlands with the need for jobs during the depression era. The hard-working men of the CCC replanted forests, fought wildfires and provided aid during times of natural disasters.
