A limited release of 110 special-edition Cruisers.

The Cruiser legacy began in March 1914 when Clinton C. Filson received U.S. patent #1088891 for his Wool Cruising Shirt. We're celebrating the 110th anniversary of our most iconic jacket with a special short run of 110 Mackinaw Wool Cruisers. They're made in our Seattle-area factory from deadstock fabrics and contrasting trim reminiscent of archival Cruisers from our earliest days of manufacturing. These colors have never appeared on a Cruiser and there will be no more like these limited-edition jackets.

The Cruiser was engineered for foresters working in the rain-soaked forests of the Pacific Northwest. Originally offered as a pullover shirt and as a button-front jacket, it saw widespread use by hunters, U.S. Forest Service personnel, and all manner of outdoorsmen. Today the jacket remains a bestseller for anyone who enjoys time in the outdoors. The full-width pass-through rear pocket was designed for timber cruisers to carry maps and survey charts, and is just as useful for bulky items such as gloves and watch caps. Combined with the four front cargo pockets, most of the torso is protected by two layers of our warm wool.

For one jacket that's comfortable in a wide range of weather conditions, the Mackinaw Wool Cruiser excels. Mackinaw Wool is made with an uncommonly tight weave that blocks wind while remaining highly breathable. This construction also provides the durability to last for generations. Our wool naturally wicks moisture to the tip of each fiber, enabling it to insulate even when wet. This is why wool has been the fabric of choice for versatile weather protection for centuries.
