The Protection You Need for Desert Spring Creeks or Coastal Winter Steelhead Runs

Choosing the Right Hat for Fishing

The right hat not only protects from foul weather and summer sunburns, but can also help you fish better. Generous brims prevent overhead glare from bouncing off polarized sunglasses and impairing the ability to see structure and fish under the water’s surface.

Watching your hat float downstream after a strong gust of wind is not fun, so a snug fit is important. Caps are great for wearing under a hood in foul weather, and mesh crowns are the coolest option for hot weather. Full-brim hats keep rain from running down your neck when not wearing a hood, and protect the ears and neck from sunburns.
