Re-Waxing Workshop
When your Tin Cloth garments are properly waxed, they’ll protect you from brush and rain through season after season of heavy use. Join us for a hands-on tutorial on re-waxing your Tin Cloth gear by our staff at Filson NYC. Beer will be provided. Space is limited, so RSVP to reserve your spot. Writer's On The Fly
Join us at the Filson Flagship for an evening with writers from the fly fishing world. Greg Fitz, Paul Moinester, Copi Vojta, Langdon Cook and Jason Rolfe will take the stage to share their poems, essays and stories about fishing and life. Other guests will include the FlyFish Journal and non-profit Our Sound, Our Salmon, who will be on hand to discuss their work. There will also be live music by the fire and refreshments provided. If you’re looking for off-the-beaten-path areas of the Pacific Northwest, come to Filson for a panel discussion about stargazing, unusual destinations, and mountaineering and backcountry hiking spots. The evening’s panelists include:
Dr. Anand Thirumalai
Astrophysicist and faculty member at the DigiPen Institute. Dr. Thirumalai is an expert on the night sky and celestial objects, and is familiar with the best places near Seattle for stargazing.
Harriet Baskas
Travel expert and published author of several books about the Pacific Northwest. Her radio stories on unusual museums, airports, and other topics aired for more than 20 years on NPR’s All Things Considered.
Peter Potterfield
Writer and adventurer specializing in mountaineering and backcountry hiking. The author of a dozen books, he is also a contributor to publications like National Geographic, Smithsonian, Backpacker, and Outside and an editor for GreatOutdoors.com.

Tim Hwang
An urban explorer, author of a field guide to shipping containers, and co-founder of the Infrastructure Observatory. To Tim, a long weekend means a chance to climb around rock quarries and dredging operations. We'll hear how the power plants, reservoirs, and satellite dishes you drive past aren't just on the way to your adventure, they are the adventure.

His articles have also appeared sources like the Washington Post, Vice, Slate, Gizmodo, and DCist, and he is the founder of Architect of the Capitol, a blog on D.C.’s hidden histories.
Judy Lathrop
Founder and owner of Atlantic Kayak, a kayaking company based in the Chesapeake Bay area. An expert on the backchannels of the Potomac, she previously led Atlas Obscura’s “In Search of the Ghost Fleet of Mallows Bay” event.
