Rugged Twill is the foundation of our line of bags and luggage, chosen for its durability and dependability in every field. A 22-oz cotton twill, it is lightly brushed with a paraffin-based wax to repel water and densely woven to reduce snags and tears. Stiff at first, it takes a couple years to break in. If it didn't, it would be easy to wear out.
The cotton is milled in Scotland and the leather is tanned in Pennsylvania,
but Filson Rugged Twill Bags are only
MADE AT 1741 FIRST AVENUE SOUTH, SEATTLE.
RUGGED TWILL LUGGAGE IS A RELATIVELY NEW ADDITION TO THE FILSON LINE. RELEASED IN 1991, RUGGED TWILL BRIEFCASES AND DUFFLES WERE DEVELOPED FOR WORKERS WHO WANTED THE CRAFTSMANSHIP AND DEPENDABILITY OF A FILSON PRODUCT IN THE BAGS AND LUGGAGE THEY USED EVERY DAY, WHETHER THEY'RE TRAVELING BY CESSNA, SEA PLANE, OR 747. TO PRODUCE A BAG THAT WILL ENDURE IN ANY CONDITION, WE GET TWILL FROM SCOTTISH MILLS WHO HAVE BEEN SPINNING COTTON SINCE BEFORE THE FIRST WORLD WAR AND LEATHER FROM WICKETT & CRAIG, ONE OF THE NATION'S LAST REMAINING VEGETABLE TANNERIES. WE BRING ALL THE MATERIALS TOGETHER IN OUR SEATTLE LUGGAGE FACTORY, WHERE EVERY PIECE OF RUGGED TWILL LUGGAGE IS CUT, SEWN, AND STITCHED.
