Filson Workshop Canvas Backpack

This limited, special-edition backpack was crafted in the Filson Workshop located just inside our Seattle Flagship retail store. Here, two highly skilled craftsmen design and build unique products using archive, short-run, and deadstock materials.

The design for this pack is an adaptation of our bestselling backpack and constructed from a rare nettle-blend canvas. The 16-oz. fabric from Scotland's historic mill Halley Stevensons replicates vintage Swiss Army rucksack material. When cotton was scarce during WWII, the Swiss used nettle and flax yarns to weave exceptionally strong canvas for bags and packs. This special-edition pack blends nettle and cotton yarns in a dense weave with a mottled “salt & pepper” effect that is true to the original. A highly effective DWR (Durable Water Repellency) treatment provides excellent water resistance.

With a 23-liter capacity, there's ample room for the day's supplies. The back panel is padded for gear protection and carrying comfort. An interior Tin Cloth pocket holds laptops up to 15‚Äù and has additional stow pockets for organizing small essentials. Heavy-duty #10 YKK® brass zippers secure the main compartment and exterior quick-access pocket. Strong and thick cotton webbing shoulder straps and grab handles.

Just 50 of these unique backpacks were made, each with its production number stamped on a thick harness leather patch.
