Curated collection of photos telling the Alaskan Gold Rush story.
The Klondike Quest brings together 200 photographs from 1897-1899 in the Alaskan Gold Rush, described as “one of the strangest mass movements in history.” Curated from more than 10,000 images living in public archives and private collections, these images tell the story of the dreams, quest, and hardships of the early pioneers. The author Pierre Berton, 1920-2004, worked in Klondike Mining camps before his career as a journalist and historian. Many of these archival photos were unpublished prior to this book’s 2005 release.
