Owning my first Filson garment is a start of making history

Our Filson fan got hooked on Filson with the Mackinaw Wool Vest he received as a Christmas present.  For over four years he’s used his vest for every one of his adventures.  His favorite part of Filson? The long lasting durability. He hopes his vest will be around for a long time to come.

My first was the Filson Mackinaw wool vest it's perfect for the fall matched with a flannel shirt is all you need, no weight all warmth. I was totally impressed on this wonderful; product on Christmas morning 4years ago, and of course if you’re wondering it looks the same since the day I received it. Thanks for such a great product.

Third Generation Filson

Filson Fan GB, of Alaska, shares a remarkable story of how Filson has been part of his family’s life from generation to generation. His coat, originally given to his dad as a graduation present, has withheld weather, abuse and wear and tear for over 30 years during surveying in Alaska. The coat was recently passed down to his son, the original owner’s grandson.  GB believes there are many more years of adventure left in his coat. Who knows, maybe it’ll get passed on to his grandson one day.My dad was given a Filson coat shortly after he graduated high school by his parents as a parting gift, when he was leaving for forestry school. The coat was used in school and for surveying in Alaska for ...Read More

Today is the last day that the public can comment in favor or preserving roadless areas. You can click here  to learn more about roadless issues from Colorado Trout Unlimited.“This is especially tr...Read More

Jon Franko wins Father's day contest

First off, thank you to all of you who were a part of our Father’s Day Facebook photo contest. It was a tough decision to make, as all of our participants contributed inspirational photos and memories. We would like to congratulate our grand prize winner, Jon Franko, for his submission “Two Kings and a Queen!” Thank you for sharing, Jon, and we hope that your new Filson product will take part in your future family traditions.

My dad says the dog, Queen Dolly of Dorchester, wasn’t worth a damn during the hunt. But “boy oh boy” was she a welcome and warm presence on the couch afterwards.

As for my grandfather, he just loved to go – whether or not the dog was good, whether or not there were e...

Big game upland hat fan

Big game upland hat fan

James Tessmann’s first introduction to Filson was with the Feather Cloth Shooting Shirt from a DU Banquet. After that he was hooked on the big game upland hat and keeps coming back for more. He recommends the product to others and says, “They last, despite the abuse.” James sports his cap to enjoy outdoor sports such as Fly Fishing, sport clay shooting, duck hunting, small game hunting, hiking, outdoor photography, ranching and farming.I've owned every piece of gear under the sun. The only piece I'll swear by, that's never broke, let me down or been replaced is My Waterfowler Hat. It's solid gold.

Double Tin Legacy

Double Tin Legacy

Riley Dabling shares an incredible story of how Filson became a part of his life through his grandfather’s family traditions and outdoor way of life. Now, Riley carries one of his grandfather's traditions everywhere with him when he wears his Double Tin Pants. Riley sincerely looks forward to when he can pass on the Filson memory to the next generation. When I was a small boy we spent all of our time in the woods and mountains on horse back. Either hunting for elk and deer or packing into a remote lake for fishing. Many of these trips were with my grandfather at the lead of the column. He always had three things with him on all these trips, his 45 pistol strapped to his hip his pipe stick in ...Read More

Redside trout are ready at Deschutes River

When our own Harry Egler sees sunshine, you can guarantee he will seize it will some good wholesome fishing. Along with his son, Harry spent the holiday weekend with a little Summer fishing at the Deschutes River. Naturally, he wore Filson waders to really get in where the good stuff was.I work at Filson and love to field test our gear - especially when it involves fishing. This past weekend, my son graduated from law school and he and I wanted to hit the Deschutes river for the Salmon Fly hatch before the graduation ceremony. We hit it just right. Weather, fishing and scenery were all spectacular. The Redside trout were big and fat - they have a real feast with all the Salmon flies and Gold...Read More
