Distribution Center – FAQ

Is it safe for Filson employees to return to work at the Distribution Center given the public health concerns?

Filson is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the health and safety of our employees, as their well-being remains our highest priority. In order to ensure the health and safety of employees, approximately 25 percent of the center’s staff will resume work at this time to promote sufficient social distancing among workers. Filson will also ensure that proper cleaning and sanitization protocols are executed throughout the facility. Filson has implemented all precautionary health and safety measures recommended by the CDC, WHO and local health officials. Some of those measures include:

  • Providing ample access to cleaning supplies and protective equipment (face covering, gloves, sanitizer, cleaning supplies)
  • Increased ventilation and clean air circulation throughout the facility
  • Health screening (temperature and interview) for each employee before each shift
  • Increasing deep cleaning process for entire facility to twice per day
  • Further increased sanitation intervals for high-touch and high-traffic shared spaces
  • Mandatory and enforced work station cleaning policies and time allotments

How many employees are returning to work?

At this time, 21 employees, including management, will return to work on April 13, 2020. This represents approximately 25 percent of the regular workforce, and will allow for adequate social distancing within the facility to adhere to all CDC and local health guidelines. During any given shift, we plan to have an approximate maximum of 15 associates and 2 managers.

Will more employees return to work as the public health situation improves?

Our goal is to return employees to work as quickly as possible while keeping their health and safety as the first priority. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will make decisions based on the recommendations and guidance of public health officials.

Is Filson forcing employees to return to work?

Returning to work is completely voluntary. Any employee exhibiting symptoms related to COVID-19 or in contact with an individual experiencing symptoms related to COVID-19, is asked to remain home during this period.

How were the returning employees selected, given that many are still furloughed?

Employees were selected based on seniority, role and business need per the union contract. All employees returning to work did so on a completely voluntary basis.

When will my order ship?

While we greatly appreciate your business, we are committed to the health and safety of our employees. We have an extremely limited staff working in order to ensure safe individual spacing and promote a clean, well-ventilated workplace. The team is picking and shipping orders in the order they were received.
