Filson clothing has been used in the field by U.S. Forest Service personnel as far back as 1925 and continues to this day. For several decades beginning in the 1940s we manufactured official uniform attire for the U.S.F.S. Our ongoing support includes a partnership with the National Forest Foundation, restoring wildfire lookout towers and contributions to the 50-Million Tree campaign as well as restoration of wildfire lookout towers.

A small group of forward-thinking outdoor brands established the Conservation Alliance in 1989 with a shared goal of increasing outdoor industry support for conservation efforts. The Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, founded in 2002, is a coalition of conservation organizations and sponsoring partners working together “to guarantee all Americans quality places to fish and hunt.” Filson supports the TRCP in their efforts emphasizing clean waters, habitat preservation and public access.

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers was formed in 2004 to ensure North America’s outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting. BHA is the voice of thousands of sportsmen advocating for the preservation of public wildlands that are under constant threat from development. Filson is a staunch supporter of BHA.
