With airlines charging more and more for checking in bags, carry-ons are now more important than ever. But finding a chic yet masculine one seems to be impossible—I only know this because I happen to travel quite a bit and am often in complete awe of the sacks that guys try to pass off as carry-on bags. It’s bad enough that an embarrassingly large portion of the population thinks basketball bags and flip-flops are appropriate plane attire (I don’t care if you’re traveling to D.C. for work or Jamaica for vacation, you are presumably not traveling to a clown convention—real clowns, you get a pass.) So please do us all a favor and at least get the bag part right and pretend that you’re a grown-up for the duration of the trip. DUFFLE BAG
Filson makes the most durable weekend bag. The best part about this bag is that the longer you have it, the better it looks. Navy with a brown leather trim is très masculine, and the bag is equipped with a two-way brass zipper. It’s great for the frequent traveler because it’s water-repellent, has a storm flap, and has bridle-leather carrying handles. What more can you want in a duffle? …Interior end pockets? Oh, O.K., good, because it has those too.
