Special Services

Repairs

For the health and safety of our repairs team, garments sent in for repair must be clean. Please remove mud and debris. Please remove all loose bird feathers and blood. Do not dry clean or wash waxed cotton garments. If you suspect your wool garment has moth damage it must be dry cleaned prior to returning to Filson. Garments that have not been cleaned prior to sending to Filson will be returned to the owner.

Typical turn around time is 4-6 weeks from the day we receive your item, but may be longer during periods of high volume. Please be sure to ship the package with a carrier that can provide tracking and insurance. For faster turnaround, please use an expedited shipping service (such as overnight or 2nd day). Expedited orders will receive priority processing whenever possible, and will be returned to you via an expedited method at no extra charge.

Include a note with your name, a physical return address, daytime phone number, what you are sending in and why, and what you would like to have happen. The garment will be evaluated and if there is to be a charge, you will be contacted. If the item is deemed irreparable, we may, at our discretion, replace it or send a Gift Card for the last known retail value of the piece. If the garment has sentimental value, and you would like to have it returned to you rather than being issued a credit or replacement, please make this very clear to us in your letter.

Items will be returned to you in a similar fashion as they are received: ground orders will be returned via ground shipping and express orders via express shipping.

Resoling Footwear

All styles of Filson boots and shoes can be resoled.

Our services provide:

1. New soles
2. New laces
3. New cork insoles
4. Fully oiled leather upper

Typical turn around time is 4-6 weeks from the day we receive your footwear, but may be longer during periods of high volume. Please be sure to ship the package with a carrier that can provide tracking and insurance.

Prices: $85.00 per pair plus the return shipping cost. Applicable sales tax for Washington and Colorado residents only. 

Different soles: We use only the type of soles that are appropriate for the style of boots or shoes that are returned. We will not re-sole using different soles from another style or brand. (Each Filson style is designed with a specific sole in mind. We feel that mixing and matching different soles and uppers is similar to swapping the pockets on one coat with pockets from another coat. The end result is not the product we designed.

Rewaxing Garments

We offer a re-proofing program for Oil Finish garments. We use the finest odorless wax for re-proofing and pay special attention to the hard wear areas, cuffs, shoulders, elbows, etc. Our reproofing service will rejuvenate the water repellency - and windproof - features of your favorite waxed garment. Unlike other reproofing companies, we reproof your pieces by hand and not with a spray on material. Your satisfaction is guaranteed.


What we can do: most styles of Filson waxed garments can re-proofed including Blaze Orange waxed garments. (Hoods are free as long as they are sent with the garment).

What we can't do: Footwear, Twill and Tin cloth Luggage, Shooting Shirts, Sweaters, Brush pants, Hats, Leather accessories, and briar / burr chaps.

The Odor Removal service is an all natural enzyme bath. We recommend re-proofing garments that have gone through the odor removal service to restore the water repellency. Standard re-proofing service fees apply.

Things to Know About Reproofing:

  • Best to reproof yearly, depending on usage.
  • Reproofing protects the garment from the elements.
  • Reproofing prolongs the life of the product.
  • Do not machine wash or dry clean a waxed cotton garment.
  • Garments should be cleaned of mud and debris prior to being sent for reproofing.
  • Remove zip in liners and empty pockets before shipping back.
  • Reproofing revives the color of the garment.
  • Garments will be temporarily stiff and will soften with wear.
  • Customers seeking to reproof small areas or items such as hats still have the option to purchase our wax.
  • We will not reproof other brands - only Filson
