Limited Edition Cowichan Sweaters and Accessories
The Cowichan Sweater originates from the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, B.C. where, traditionally, the Salish lived in outdoor societies. Survival in their habitat required clothing that could protect from the elements and endure outdoor living. The Cowichan Sweater was born out of that need, providing warmth in the bitter winters and protection from the rain. Today, the Salish continue their tradition of hand-knitting the sweaters from hand-spun wool. Each year, the sweaters feature different patterns and images of animals. Hand-knit exclusively for Filson, this year’s Men’s and Women’s Cowichan Sweater features the legendary Moose that helped hunters and fox that brought trees to the Cascade Mountains.
